Studio 1B
ARCH 183 | Studio1B: Natural Tendencies | Spring 2018 | Prof. Natsuma Imai | WSOA
The studio explores the relationship of architecture to the body, which is developed further with an exploration of essential architecture principles as they relate to a fundamental understanding of natural elements and human tendencies. Projects introduce scale, enclosure,
architectural elements, spatial expression, and program as form givers. Upon exploring ruled surfaces on a basswood model, the project developed a curvilinear flow that indicates the circulation and the roof design allowing natural light in the space.
Material Exploration
Tectonics is study through the fabrication of three models using basswood sticks, 3D printer, and foam.
